If I Build a Light Show Using "Light Show Designer" Can I Upgrade It Next Year?

Our system automatically saves your layout, allowing you to easily return and add more decorations whenever you'd like. It also integrates seamlessly with the controllers you've previously purchased from EZRGB. If there are ports available on your current setup, the system will prioritize using them first and will re-program your existing controller to accommodate the new additions to your show.

EZSequence Tips and Guides

Are There Any Updates Coming?

Yes — the system is updated with new features and models every few days.

There Were Updates to the System, How Do I Get My New Files?

No worries: when we make changes to the system it re-generates your files automatically.

Where Can I Find My xlights_rgbeffects & xlights_networks Files to Upload?

You can find the files in your show directory folder. The easiest way to find it is to open xLights and see where you have been saving your show; that highlighted location is where the needed files reside.

The two files we need are:

  • xlights_rgbeffects.xml
  • xlights_networks.xml

Can I Edit the Sequences?

With our system, you won't receive sequence files directly. Instead, you'll get a ".fseq" show-player file that's ready to upload and enjoy!

If you notice anything unusual, you can try using our "Edit Layout" tool found under the "My Account" page and then go to the "My Layout" tab. This allows you to change all sorts of mapping preference like primary singers, tune-to, and much more. For further help, reach out to our support team.

ADVANCED USERS!

If you're looking to add your own effects, turn off effects, or import into the layout with other files (such as add-on trees, moving heads, etc.):

  1. In xLights go to "File" → click "New Sequence"
  2. Select "Musical Sequence"
  3. Select your audio file
  4. Select "Timing Choice"
  5. At "Select a View", click "More Options"
  6. From "Import Data" choose "xLights"
  7. Select the .iseq file found in the "Sequence.zip" you downloaded from EZRGB
  8. Click "Render"
  9. Click "Save Sequence"

Now you won't see the effects, but you can either add your own at this point or import another sequence on top of this one.

EZSequence Didn't Get My Singing Faces the Way I Want — Can I Change the Roles?

The system automatically assigns faces to singing roles in the sequence. If you want to emphasize a particular face, you can adjust roles using "Edit Layout" tool. To access log into your account then under "My Account" click on "My Layout". Next click on the button labeled "Edit Layout" to access this easy tool to change the singers role.

EZSequence Didn't Light Up a Certain Prop — Is There Anything I Can Do?

Overriding Props

If the type of a model is not mapped correctly, you can override it using the "Edit Layout" tool found under "My Layout"

How Do I Keep Certain Props Just On?

In the "Layout Edit" tool, select one of the following:

  • On White — Prop stays on white the entire time
  • On Primary Color — Prop stays on, with complementary colors the entire time
  • State (Static On) — Prop stays on, using the user-defined static from the model state
EZSequence Is Sequencing a Prop That I Want No Effects On (e.g. tune-to, etc.) — What Can I Do?

In the "edit Layout" tool select "None (Skip Mapping)"

Using Wireless DMX with EZSequence

If you have DMX-RF wands or other similar lighting products synced to your light show:

  • Add [T:DMX_Wands] to the description field of the model that controls light color.
  • If your wireless DMX controller also has a control signal (5-channel mode), place [T:DMX_WandsCtrl] in the model description field for the control channels.
How Do I Get My Tune-To Sign to Work?

Using "Tune To" Signs with EZRGB

For fixed "Tune To" signs that should display a single message:

  • In the "Edit Layout" tool select "Tune To (Matrix)"

If your "Tune To" sign is from the xLights library (e.g. from a coro vendor), EZRGB supports these and they should adjust to your FM frequency. If the sign does not render properly, contact support.

If you do not want EZRGB to drive your "Tune To" sign (for example: stand-alone player, alternate method):

  • Select "None (Skip Mapping)" in the "Edit Layout" tool.

Show Player Guides

What Show Players Are Compatible with Your System?

Three options:

  • xScheduler (included with xLights — runs on a PC)
  • FPP (Falcon Pi Player — runs on Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone)
  • HinksPix stand-alone pixel controller
Upload Sequences to xScheduler
  1. Locate the downloaded "Show Player Files" (.fseq) and the accompanying music file (usually in your Downloads folder).
  2. Copy both files.
  3. Open your xLights show folder and paste both files there.
  4. Open xSchedule.
  5. Click "ADD" to create a new playlist.
  6. Give your playlist a name.
  7. Click "ADD FSEQ" and browse to your xLights show directory.
  8. Select the FSEQ file (or double-click), then click "OPEN" to add it to the playlist.

  10. Click "Browse" next to the audio file field and select your MP3 file.
  11. Finally, click "OK."

Upload Sequences to FPP (Falcon Pi Player)

  2. Copy both files.
  3. Open your xLights show folder and paste both files there.
  4. Connect your FPP controller to your computer's network and power it on.
  5. Open xLights and select "FPP Connect"
  6. Select your sequences and FPP settings your show requires.
  7. Select "Upload"
  8. In FPP Go to "Playlists" → click "Add New Playlist."
  9. Name the playlist (you may also add a description).
  10. Add a sequence/media entry to the playlist by selecting the FSEQ file in the Sequence dropdown and the MP3 file in the Media dropdown.
  11. Click "Add."
  12. Save the playlist.
  13. Go to "Scheduler," click "Add" to schedule your show.
  14. Fill in start date, end date, and select days for the show to run.
  15. Enter the start time (when the playlist should play). Leave "Schedule Type" at the default (Playlist).
  16. In "Playlist/Command," select your playlist name. Choose an end time for the show.
  17. Click "Save."
  18. To play the sequence at any time, open the "Status/Control" menu, go to "Display Testing."
  19. Select your sequence from the dropdown, then press "Play."

We hope this guide has helped you set up your FPP show player.

  2. In xLights, go to "File" → "New Sequence."
  3. Select "Musical Sequence."

  7. From "Import Data," choose "xLights."
